In 2018 the Welsh Government decided to change how they commission advice services across Wales to improve the quality and availability of advice services, and encourage collaboration between advice providers. In September 2019 we were awarded funding by the Welsh Government to deliver this new service (Advicelink Cymru) across Wales from 1 January 2020.
Advicelink Cymru is a new way of providing advice services in Wales. It’s funded by Welsh Government currently for one year (January to December 2020). It replaces 4 advice services: Better Advice, Better Lives; the Frontline Advice Service; Community Focussed Advice Services; and the Levy-funded debt advice recently devolved to Wales.
Advicelink Cymru is designed to help people in Wales who are most in need of advice services, particularly those who would not usually seek advice. We want to help people access the right advice, at the right time and make it easier for them to access services again if they need further help - whether that’s about the same issue or something new.
We’re building a service that reaches out to people in Wales, putting those most in need first
We’re making it easier to find advice, creating an accessible and convenient service
Our phone, web and face to face services will give people the tools to solve their problems
People in Wales can access the service through our existing Adviceline Wales number: 03444 77 20 20 or by textphone: 18001 03444 111 445
The service is managed by Citizens Advice Cymru. Funding is sub-granted to individual local Citizens Advice offices and a broad range of local and national partners, who will deliver services.
Our partners are experts in engaging specific groups and communities across Wales. They help us reach the people who need our services most and provide wraparound emotional, clinical and social support services.

Private Rented Sector Debt Helpline
One of Advicelink Cymru’s services is a free, confidential, independent helpline providing advice and support to tenants from the private rented sector. The Private Rented Sector Debt Helpline advises tenants on ways in which they can maximise their income and manage debt to help them pay their rent and hold on to their tenancies.
If you’re a tenant in the private rented sector in Wales and are worried about paying your rent or household bills please call the Citizens Advice Private Rented Sector Debt Helpline on 0300 330 2177. Lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding Bank holidays).
With our network of partners, we’ll try out new ways to reach people who haven't accessed advice before or have specific advice needs, and we’ll learn as we go. We're gradually engaging new partners over time and we'll update this page as new organisations come on board.
