Energy supplier rating

In December 2016 we launched our quarterly energy supplier rating, which incorporates complaints handling data alongside other performance measures.
We also publish a record of data from previous releases of the rating [Excel 260 kb]. Please note that the methodology for the rating was changed from Q4 2017 onwards.

Complaints data

Between 2012 and 2016, Citizens Advice (and its predecessor consumer body, Consumer Futures) published a quarterly complaints handling league table which compared how domestic energy suppliers rank on handling complaints from best to worst.
The complaints handling league table has now been replaced by our energy supplier rating. We keep a record of data from the complaints league table [ 500 kb], and update it with quarterly complaints handling data from the star rating.

Our energy market overview infographic [ 480 kb]uses data from the energy supplier rating to demonstrate the average performance of suppliers in the energy market, in relation to complaints, billing, switching and customer service.
