Ofgem was consulting on whether it needed to revise the energy price cap to account for cost changes caused by the pandemic, principally in relation to bad debt. We highlighted that its proposals were currently unquantified, but suggested that if it does have evidence to support the need for change then the approach it was proposing appeared sensible.

Citizens Advice welcomes Ofgem’s proposal to extend SLC22G, and introduce a new provision to be able to extend the protections further if needed. It’s essential that these consumers are not disadvantaged by delays to the smart meter rollout.
